The most common reason

open this type of file. To remedy this condition, perform the following
steps:
The following information
applies to Netscape Version 4.05. Your version may differ.
- On the Netscape
toolbar, Click on "Edit"
- Click "Preferences"
- On the list under
"Categories", find "Applications". Click on "Applications"
- Click "New Type"
- In the box beside
"Description of type:" put Excel File
- In the box beside
"File extension:" put .xls
- In the box beside
"MIME Type:" put Application/msexcel
- Click "Browse"
to find Microsoft Excel. The most common location for this file is C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Microsoft Excel. If you have trouble finding
it, Go to Start (Windows Start); Find; Files or Folders. In the box
beside "Named" put Microsoft Excel. When you see where it is, go back
to "Browse" and locate the folder.
- When you find Microsoft
Excel, Double Click on it to load it into "Application to use:"
- Click "OK"
- On "Preferences"
Click "OK"
- If the hyperlink
still does not launch Excel, close the browser and reopen, try again.
- If Excel still
will not open, re-start the computer.

set to open this type of file, it will automatically open each time.
